This training session is intended to build upon your existing skills to boost your confidence in assisting the Methow at Home community members. This session will provide education regarding durable medical equipment you may encounter as well as how to provide physical assistance, such as with simple car transfers, when appropriate. Additionally, it will address how to recognize signs and symptoms of negative health changes, and how to use effective communication strategies to better support the health and well-being of the community member. The in-person session will provide hands-on training and the opportunity to practice these skills and for peer-to-peer problem solving. 

Colleen O’Hagan is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy student at the University of Puget Sound. She recently completed a year-long research project with MAH on the topic of productive aging and fall prevention. This training session is part of her capstone project.
