Join naturalist Dana Visalli for a 3 hour basic geology walk, Meeting at the Winthrop city park, or at the Weeman Bridge, we will go down to the cobbles at the Weeman Bridge, enjoy the beauty of the river, and try to interpret the story in the cobbles--in the igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks there. Then we will go on a short hike up the hill (with one short steep section to ascend) to study the volcanic andesite of the Midnight Peak formation and some beautiful glacial polish on those rocks left by the last glacial advance. Bring hiking shoes, water, binoculars, warm clothes, and a snack. For vaccinated volunteers and members only.
