Birding with Juliet Rhodes
Are you a birder or want to learn more about birding? Join Juliet, a bird enthusiast, for a stroll around the Beaver Pond near Sun Mt. to search for the spring birds that reside there. Bring binoculars.
About Juliet Rhodes:
I started to get interested in birds when, in 1991 during my last quarter at UW, I was hired to help enter data for the Magellanic Penguin Project headed up by Dee Boersma. Then, that fall, she hired me to help do field work at the research station itself in Argentina, which I did for two seasons. Sometime afterwards, I began volunteering for Seattle Audubon Society. People would call and describe a bird and ask me what it was, but I hadn’t a clue because I only knew about penguins and Argentine birds. I decided then that I should learn a little about the birds in my own country, and that is when I went on my first official bird walk. I am not an expert nor an extreme birder, but I find them truly amazing and wonderful. Lately, I have been concentrating on identifying birds by their songs and calls. It is so rewarding when I can’t see them, but I can tell who they are by the sounds they make.
