About Sam:

Co-owns and operates Bluebird Grain Farms in Winthrop since 2004 with his wife Brooke Lucy.  Began writing in the 5th grade and has kept a daily journal since.  First published in 1993; he’s had short stories and poems published in various periodicals since.  His collection of stories and poems “Holding Ground” was published by Down East Books in 2005.  He hopes to publish a second collection soon.  He’s been a contributor to Gray’s Sporting Journal for nearly 25 years where noted writers such as Annie Proulx, Pete Fromm, and Rick Bass have also published.  He used to give annual public readings in the Methow, often with his kindred spirit Abbi Miller, to benefit various causes including the Confluence Gallery.  He has taught in the Young Writers Workshop since its inception as well as aided classroom writing on and off over the years.
