What is a Contra dance?

Contra dance is a little like square dance. Like square dance, there is a caller who prompts folks through the dance. The main difference is dancing with 50 or more neighboring dancers since we dance in a line instead of a square. The tradition is to change partners at the end of every dance. You may bring a partner (or other friends), but you'll have lot of people to dance with even if you don't. No special clothing is required. And no previous experience is necessary. We will have a live band with musicians from up and down the valley. (4 Rivers String Band) Come to listen to the music if for some reason you can't dance! Admission is by donation and all proceeds go towards our grant membership program.
